I replaced my original omc unit with this one last year. I'm very pleased with it.As stated in the specs, it is adjustable / adaptable for any configuration.http://www.pbsboatstore.com/teleflex...nt-control.htmI know I didn't pay much over $200.00 for it. Shop around.

I replaced mine with the same Teleflex SL3. I'm very pleased with it also. I did encounter much seller confusion with regards to a differentiation between engine tilt control and trim tab control. The unit pictured above tilts the engine up and down by using the small switch on the end of the handle and has no ability to control your trim tabs. I have that function on my dash. It also differs from OEM in that you do not achieve free throttle control by pulling out on the unit, you press the round button in the center. I think I paid around $246.00. To move out of neutral safety, you squeeze the pictured lever below the handle. It's a good unit.

I had an original mercruiser throttle control.
It was a PITA to try and increase or decrease the rpm by very small increments.
I changed it out with a teleflex unit, which fitted up with no real issue.
It was one of the best mods I have done, and now it is extremely easy to make fine adjustments.

has no ability to control your trim tabs,
The shifter has the small lever switch at the grip as mentioned for "Trim" and the Trim with Tilt model comes with a separate rubber tipped button switch that is installed in the knock out hole on the side cover bezel / plate if required.
With Mercruiser trim / tilt wiring you would install the extra button to operate the "trailer" function.
On my OMC application it is not needed as the Cobra does not have the trim limit micro switch on the gimbal housing pivot. The trim up / down switch operates it through the entire full up / full down range.
