It came out great. Used marine ply, two coats of epoxy all sides, the used Rustoleum Top Side to paint it. Smooth as can be. Thanks all.

First off use "all weather wood"

It is a brown plywood product that is treated and absolutly will not rot...Ever.

Then just paint is with a good exterior grade oil based enamel paint. Choose your brand.

    Epoxy

Be sure to put in drain holes and seal the edges.

I'm just wrapping up redoing all my cockpit seating and I replaced all the marine plywood and sealed it all with the epoxy. Do at least two coats. In the end I did two or three as I went back over areas.

Best way to seal and paint marine plywood-gctid751478

As the topic suggests I am looking for tips on how best to seal a piece of marine plywood I will use to replace a panel in the locker at the base of the ladder leading to the fly bridge on my 1987 3216. The old panel is white in color. Any ideas?
