• Alarms/Camera(39)s for boats!!--tired of people trying to rob me-gctid390452

I'm tired of people trying to pry open my cabin door. Besides finding a new marina, are there any suggestions for alarm systems, or camera's I can install on my 2011 Ciera 2855?

    Thanks

    Mike

I'm just kidding about this, so please don't do it.

I have always thought that you could energize the door handle with 120 volts. :livid:

I'd probably move marinas. You can try and turn your boat into a fortress but in the long run only proper physical security at the marina will make a difference. I went round with our owners about a locked gate, because we had idiots literally climbing all over the boats. I ended up moving.

Ironically, I just made this post yesterday.

You can tie in door contacts, etc. if you want.

Install a 130 dB alarm horn inside the cabin that is set to go off 10 seconds after the cabin door is opened. It'll drive any would-be thief right into the water....

Ahh..... no! bad idea. The horn is a good idea louder the better wake everyone up to take a look and see who is in the water.

I would try something like this, it was on Amazon for 50. You would probably have to put it down low by your seat facing the cabin door so the movement of your bimini won't set it off.

This is very concerning news. Lighthouse Point Marina was one of my choices when I move my boat down the shore. Any news if they have a similar problem?

Sorry to hear about these people with nothing better to do trying to get into your boat. Good luck.

I'm not sure but I am going to check into that very question. I'm planning on moving my boat there if this stuff continues in Beachwood. I'm going to go thru the marina and ask people questions.

I used one of these along with door switches on each door/hatch and a mat alarm.

A few years ago every boat on the dock was broken into......except mine.....I guess the kids knew it had an alarm system and left it alone.

Lighthouse Point Marina is suppose to be really nice and safe. Spoke to them about transient slips for July 4th weekend and they haven't had any issues from the person that I spoke to. Won't be staying there though. Will be staying at Seaside Park Marina as it is only 4 blocks from the Boardwalk. So Tom you are moving the boat to Toms River. Nice.

I believe Strat had these on his boat.
