    Large trailer guide ons?-gctid384729

I installed bunk guides on the last 3 small boats I've had, which would be great for my 2955 when it's windy (25mph today!) but I can't find any which are large enough. The sides of the boat are out about 22" from the outside edge of the i-beam frame, and relatively high as well.

Does anyone know of any "large size" trailer guide-ons? Otherwise, I'll have to make some.

Ishiboo, are the crossmembers on the trailer also I-Beam or are they box frame?

The cross members are tube steel.

I went through this issue also had to finally give upfinding good ones and buy something with the thought of doing 2 alterations to them (1 make them wider 2 make them taller) I think for me it was the best option

I had to come out 16" from the trailer I-Beams. Relatively heavy boat (7.4), strong tidal current and wind at the ramp.

The existing trailer cross members were 2.5" inside diameter box frame and hollow all the way across the trailer from one side to the other. I used 2" galvanized Pipe from Home Depot, installed 3' into the cross member on each side with 55" verticals. Home Depot will cut and thread to your specs. Total cost was $115.00.

I have yet to pad the verticals to protect the boat and conceal the unsightly appearance of the pipe, however with these going 3' into the cross member on each side, I believe that this will be strong enough to fight the tide and wind, even with the 16" leverage out from the trailer frame. Probably wouldn't have hurt to come up a foot higher on each side.

I made mine. Go to a muffler shop. Have them use the thick wall tubing for a truck. They also have the U bolts you'll need, and the nuts and brackets. Use two u bolts on a large setup. After bending, you can cover the tube with some plastic sheathing. They flex a little, and if it bends some, you're not out a bunch of money. The bends are custom, so you can get exactly what you want.
