    Bayliner 2252 questions-gctid384632

Where is the original water tank supposed to be on these?

I bought a used one last week and under the passenger seats is a 27 gallon auxilliary fuel tank that the previous owner added. Im guessing that is where the water tank used to be. Now there is a 5 gallon water bag in the bow under the bed. I don't think that will be enough for my needs.

In front of the auxilliary tank is a smaller tank. Is that the poop tank?

If you go to www.baylinerparts.com you will find a wealth of information.

Look up your boat and there are layouts for all systems.

Let us know if you find what you need there.

Hi green 650. This model was fitted with fresh water tank accessible by unscrewing and removing platform below port side back to back seats. Area above this platform was designed to be used for carrying an ice cooler. The other tank located to the front of the fresh water tank (closer to the bow) is the toilet holding tank. Hull fittings for adding fresh water and pumping sewerage are adjoining the same port side of boat. Having a 27 gallon fuel tank under the passenger seat could be an issue as there is no dedicated air circulation in that confined area. Enjoy your 2252 they are a great boat.

Thanks. Thats kind of what I figured. The 27 gallon fuel tank is almost as tall as the deck, so there isnt much room in there.

How does the pump out work?

I have a couple switches by the dash (for the macerator), the covered fitting adjacent to the water fitting(which is now used for fuel), and another outlet near the waterline.

            Green650,

Just curious if you were previously aware of the website I mentioned and if you found it helpful?

I saw it before, but never scrolled down far enough to see diagrams. I was looking for those rubber engine cover hold down latches.

It did help, now I know what the original water capacity was. I would like to find out what others with same boat are gettin mileage wise, because if I only get an 85 mile range with 55 gallons, Im going to have to keep that extra tank. 1.5 mpg doesn't seem right for this boat, but it is a new motor with 20hrs, so hopefully it improves or maybe it is jetted wrong?

What year is your 2252? Mine does much better then that. My original specs show 6.9 GPH at 3500RPM. I have a 4.3 L V-6 I think the fuel usage is okay. A day on the water and I use about 1/2 a tank. However, I do not run on plnae all of the time.

Mine is a 1996 with a new 5.7. I think something is off because it only goes to 36mph, and I saw a magazine test somewhere that had one with a 4.3 going 40mph.

Original paperwork with my boat says 36 MPH at 4400 - 4600 RPM. Realistically, with bottom paint, my WOT MPH is about 33 MPH. When the boat was new, on a cool day and flat water, Just me and a 1/2 tank of fuel. I did get 38 MPH on my GPS. I have a copy of the original spec but thus website restricts file size so I can not post it. With a 5.7 you will do better. I believe that the O/D is geared different for different HP. May be why your mileage is much lower.
