My best view of fireworks were many years ago on dad's boat. The cloud layer was low and the fireworks barely got into the clouds and the colors and display was awesome. We were just off Bay Shore Marina...

So you're saying you all had broiled lobster for lunch that day?

            Joey:

Great compilation of events, thanks for posting. BTW this weekend, as I'm sure YOU know, Joey, is the air show at Jones Beach with the Blue Angels. On Sunday I'm planning on running from Bay Shore to either Zach's, or to the west side of Wantagh#3 and anchoring out. Will you be in the area Joey?

Doug: I had no idea you were a Bay Shore Marina alumni! Small world! I've been there for 18 yrs now. CHEERS!

              Hey Ted,

Ill be motoring out on Sunday, but we have so much going on that weekend wont have time to anchor out, we might just cruise around the State Channel and watch it that way...we'll get a raft up this summer, dont worry!

For those of you up in the Pac/NW I highly recommend the fireworks at Buchart Gardens. You can't see them from the boat but you can dinghy over to the back entrance and view them from the lawn area.

These are not your typical high-in-the-sky fireworks but they are some of the most interesting and creative fireworks I have ever seen, and I've seen lots of fireworks over the years. It's hard to describe but they do a "show" which is combined with music and each "act" has some sort of theme. For example, last year one act had 2 dragons, outlined in fireworks that moved across the lawn breathing 'fire'. It's a combination of colored smoke, fixed firework structures and air-burst fireworks.

Get there early and bring a blanket and a jacket (it gets "cool" at night).
