    Just getting back into boating, set to pickup a 89 2850 cobra 460 omc. Any thoughts, suggestions,

    Hay as luck has it, the guy sold the boat from under me, so i went to plan B bought a 1986 2850 contessa (Volvo). Her maiden voyage was a 5 hour run down lake erie from cleveland oh to erie pa. awesome trip. Picked up a lowrance gps and it took me right in to my marina, nice specially when it turned dark half way back :-) need to find back railing, they were removed for some reason.

        Great boat layout, parts for that engine can be pricey though. Make sure the manifolds/etc. are in good condition or subtract appropriately from the price.

          Ask. THEN Buy.

          Are you in fresh or salt water? That 460/KC combo is not a salt water application.
