We have the phone but not the apps. What are you using that you "can't live without"?

I don't use many and I'm not sure any of these qualify as "can't live without" but here is a list of a few boating related apps I enjoy or refference on my Droid Bionic in no particular order, oh and all free...I don't pay for apps, I pay enough for the phone:

The Boat US app

Flag Bag (for easy flying flag refferenceing since I never could remember all those!)

Knots Guide

Marine Traffic

I think the Flag Bag and Knots Guide are great refference apps, Boat US app can post your position on Facebook for friends and the Marine Traffic is for all things AIS.

Ship finder is a nice one for watching AIS targets. Marine Traffic s another. Tides and Currents by Fly To Maps is a very handy app here in the PNW.

and gps essentials-has a camera function that records gps location and compass direction on pic

We just picked up a Tablet for assorted reasons Lenovo IdeaPad.

I realize this thread is about software, but this is one of the few inexpensive tablets that actually has a GPS in it. I just wanted to mention that.

As far as software...

For the tablet...

EarthNC - Charts directly from NOAA, works with the GPS and allows you to download charts to work offline. AWESOME APP (do I really need to add the always have paper charts disclosure?)

Tides and Currents - It downloads several days in advance so again... works offline.

Marine Traffic - Great AIS app. I think it only refreshes data every 5 minutes which for us is just fine.

On my phone...

I have pretty much the same apps, but also

Animated Knots - cause it's always good to practice.

Weather by BlueFin - This app is actually a bit overkill, but it gets the job done.

I finally entered the 21st Century and got a Galaxy III.....while our boating season is basically finished, does anyone have any updates to this thread and android apps that they love, or almost love?

I would likely add WindAlert by WeatherFlow to the above list. We use Marine Weather by Bluefin most days we're out.

It appears EarthNC has pulled their free app, at least from the Play store.

Since posting the above and now having my boat moored at a marina, I still use the same apps. I use the Weather by Bluefin on my phone just about every day as it also has tide levels.

I just got an update on mine... I don't think I have the pay version, but I might.

Navionics is a "must have" for me. Not sure If there Is a free version, I paid $10 and love it.

Navionics is $15.50 now - downloaded it last week onto a friends 'droid.

Worth every penny though
