Need a new 18' trailer to replace a painted shorland'r that rusted out. Was given a figure of ~$2700 for a single axle, 2300lb., galvanized trailer (same brand). Does that sound about right? I'm near York, Pa. and there isn't many boat dealers around to get some comparison pricing. TIA.

why not ask http://championtrailers.com/ for a quote even if you don't want to buy there? http://www.pacifictrailers.com/ is another place you could get a quote from.
From my point of view it's a bit on the high side and I have seen aluminum trailers of that size in that price range. Aluminum ones are nice and durable and a lot lighter.....

Venture trailers are made in Baltimore Md. I am very happy with mine. Great customer service as well.

What ever way you go, insist upon EZ Lube, Sure-Lube, Super-Lube spindles (not Bearing Buddies).
There is no sense in purchasing a new trailer today without this style spindle.

One of the things we are fighting on the price of boat trailers is the price of steel. Most dealers and/or manufacturers are reluctant to quote a price because they are basing their price on the open market for replacement steel to build the next trailer.

$2700 sounds a bit high.
5 years ago we bought a new 19' roller Loadright galvanized #2,400 single axle in Long Island NY for $1,600.
2 weeks ago we bought a new 24' bunk Continental Aluminum #5,800 dual axle with discs in Miami for $3,600.
Many of the larger trailer companies will arrange to have it delivered to a location near where you are if you have the time.

I bought a trailer from these people in dec. too early to give you any reports but it seems well built and sturdy. Has less than 1,000 miles on it. Fla to Indiana only trip so far.Toms180 wrote:
