    Tinted my 2855 cabin windows-gctid376539

After weighing the pros and cons, I decided to tint my interior cabin windows. My curtains are insufficient and in bad shape, need replacement. I always keep them rolled up and out of sight. I didn't want to try to clean/repair them or figure out how to detatch them and find a suitable replacement. The only cons I considered were:

    1) Cost ($150)

    2) Decreased visibility from inside the cabin to the outside world

The results were quite nice. The #2 concern is actually not that bad. The 20% tint is almost total black on the outside, but on the inside it appears I have only lost about 20-30% visibility. I also enjoy the scenery while outside of the cabin, not inside. The main reasons for tint were this:

    1) Cooler cabin when I'm out on the lake all day. I have no genny or A/C. Made a VERY noticeable difference yesterday in 87 degree sunny weather.

    2) Added privacy when docked. Came in handy when a few guests needed to change into some swimwear in the cabin - and we had a smaller open bow boat tied up to one side.

    3) Curb appeal. It actually looks *really* nice! Some of my guests complimented the look and compared it to the larger yachts with tinted windows.

The pictures are awfully bad due to glare and a dirty camera lens (I was in the water after all). What do you think?

I think it looks great and I'm doing mine very soon. Cabin temps will be a lot cooler and the looks make it a no brainer.

Well, I think that's great and it sounds like its working out for you. For me however, one of the things I love about the bayliners is the amount of natural light and being able to see out. I'd never want to compromise that.

I agree with Seaquel. At the same time I like the idea of darker windows too. The 285/2855 has those two smaller hatches that lets light in.

Weren't they tinted to begin with? Mine are tinted dark from the factory. Or did you just go even darker? If they weren't tinted at all to begin with, do you have any "before" pics so I can see?

          Looks good, btw.
