Boat capsizes in Raritan Bay, killing one-gctid374425
That happen right outside of our Inlet basically. Go out take a left go towards then past the light house and that is where they capsized. I was at my Boat at Morgan on Saturday at 2pm. I was going to go out but it started to blow hard even at Morgan. Another slip mate came by that was out fishing in his 36ft. He said there was 5 ft chop in the bay and he was taking waves over the bow. So I was glad I made that call of staying in. Sounds like they should not have been out especialy at 5:30pm when this happened which was blowing harder as the noreaster was coming in.
Sad, and probably avoidable. It will be interesting to hear what caused it. Aside from the too few PFDs in use, there's not enough info to learn any lessons.

Side note, hope to see you out there soon.
I'm guessing it was near the spot where those tugboats are usually anchored.
There's not much info about the accident, I'm real curious as to what happened.
Other then a collision with another boat I didn't think there was any danger over there.
Purely a speculation, but in following seas he had likely broached his boat causing it to capsize. Article mentioned lose anchor, but it may have fallen out after their boat capsized.

Boat's not in yet, probably another 2 weeks.
Yep, been over there a couple of times. Gets shallow. Still don't know why he would go out in those conditions as it wasn't the best day to go out.
Hope to see you out soon.

I worry myself about next year bringing the boat down the shore. Weather changes so quickly compared to being on the lake.
Tom, just use common sense with the weather. If it doesn't look remotely good don't chance it. Like I said I wanted to go out that day with the kids and wife, but the family man in me said no way if there is any chance they could get hurt, we won't go out. What's the point.
