    L. Ontario boaters - do you maintain a Toronto Harbour Licence?-gctid373196

Each year I get my renewal notice in the mail and I shell out $15 for my Toronto Harbour Power Vessel Operator's Permit. In 30+ of entering TO Harbour, I've been stopped by police many, many times, but I've never been asked for my harbour licence. I know - it's only $15 so why am I whining? I'm just hate this unadulterated cash grab.

For those of you on lake Ontario, do you maintain a Toronto Harbour License?

I never have, but then again I have never been in the harbour. Over the winter I took my SVOP to run charters on the lake so now I don't need one as its covered by having it.

Ya? I hadn't heard that before.

With the TO license being such a cash grab, I'm surprised there's an equivalency granted.

While I know the Authorities web site reads that you need both, The way I read their own "Toronto Port Authority Practices and Proceedures Document" that they reference as their regulations for the permit, you need one or the other but not both. If I lived there I would test the law and take the ticket and go to court.

To tell you the truth, I didn't realize it till my partner informed me we could now do night tours of the harbour.
