This one is too close to home.

My daughter in law is currently serving at USCG district 17 headquarters in Juneau, Alaska. She's an SK1 going for Chief.

My son finished his enlistment at USCG station Valdez, Alaska

Very, very sad. My wife and I have taken recently to watching Coast Guard Alaska on the Weather Channel, and it's amazing to see the work those brave men and women do.

Our prayers go out the the parents of those Coasties that lost their lives in this tragic event. Our son is also in the Coast Guard, currently training at "A" school in Yorktown. He finishes in May and will be serving at the small boat station on Fire Island. He spent last year aboard the Cutter Tahoma out of Portsmouth, NH.
