Good read from Boating Magazine; NMMA is considering a certification process for marine fuel additives similar to TC-W and FC-W for marine oils:

Yamaha and ValveTec are for it; Star brite (Star Tron) seems to be against it. Star brite cites an existing spec set by the EPA, but I have a feeling that spec is for automotive use, and doesnt address ethanol problems with phase seperation in the marine environment. Going to try to look it up...

Interesting. This past winter, I put the Marine grade Stabil in that is supposed to address the ethynol issue. I hope it works! It will be interesting to see which products make the grade.

I know alot of people use them, while alot of people consider them snake oil.

If they develop a proper test protocol, I think it's a win-win for the consumer.

I've used PRI-G in the past, but its hard to find by me, so I've switched over to Marine Grade Stabil. If its doing anything, who knows, maybe its just piece of mind...it would be nice to have a level playing field for their claims.
