Back when we still lived in NY, we always made it a point to get to the river at least once a season. It's just such a beautiful area it's difficult to describe unless you have ever boated it.
We are planning a trip up the last 2 weeks of August - from Buffalo it is 19 locks on the Erie Canal to Oswego, then about 50 miles across Lake Ontario to Cape Vincent. Haven't been up since 2008 and we really miss it. Maybe we can meet up some of you "locals" and share boating stories..
I have family friends who own riverfront property across from Wolfe Island just SW of Clayton. The views from the top of their boathouse in the evening are absolutely breathtaking.
I miss the river really badly - about the only thing I miss about Northern NY, if i am honest. I try to make it back once a year or so.
I really wonder how I missed the secret modifications you must have made on your boat to be able to float 500 feet above the water when shooting those pictures:surr
Thanks for the video. I have done the both the Rideau and the Trent. Any day in the water is a good day.
Had our boats docked in Clayton since 1986 (in the same marina as Matt-Hi Matt). Couldn't imagine leaving the area after all these years. And you're right, Picton was a bit more of a secret back then.
