    My Illuminated name-gctid364405

    Hi Guys

This is my latest addition to my 285, just fitted it last weekend and was supplied by www.illuminatedboatnames.co.uk , it certainly makes her stand out from the rest of the boats on our jetty! Easy to fit, it took about 2.5 hours as its a 12 volt system so no heavy power use and flat batterys!

Im really pleased with it and i think it looks great with the teak swim platform. Sorry about the poor resolution photos!

    Cheers

    Chuds.

Thanks for all the kind comments guys. I had mine made with 8mm acrylic and 3mm face material (which is standard size) so it didnt stick out to far from the transom. it took about 3 weeks from first contact to it being delivered, in that time i changed sizes and letter style but it was no problem to the company. There service was first rate and really gave fantastic customer service which is rare these days (esp in the UK) I got the idea from a huge superyacht with an illuminated name that i was drooling over whilst on holiday so found a couple of companys that made them, got a few prices....and nearly fell over lol. I found the link to these guys from facebook of all places they had made a comment on Bayliners page, couldnt believe my luck when found out they were based in England!

Now for the subject of price......well its bespoke and hand made (hope my wife aint reading this post!) the total cost was aprox £800 which i think would be about $1250. I know it is a lot to spend on a name but i certainly think its worth it, it was far less than other companys wanted for the same thing and they were real nice people to deal with, they will ship i think, because the chap was telling me that they were making one for somebody in Canada!

Each time i look at it it makes me smile sounds daft i know but we all love our boats and like them to look there best so a shameless plug for www.illuminatedboatnames.co.uk !

Hope this helps and if anybody wants anymore info re fitting etc i would be more than happy to assist.

                          Cheers

                          Chuds.

Well, that's certainly motivation to make it myself. I wouldn't spend that much on anything that just makes it look good, period.

I'll get to work on a design.
