I usually begin my trips to Friday Harbor from La Conner. But there are some great places to stop between Blaine and Friday harbor. Sucia Island has many beautiful anchorages and is one of our favorites there are also two floats in Fossil Bay. There are many hiking trails on the Island too. Jones Island, another state park has a nice bay and anchorage on the north end of the Island, there is a float there as well. Roche Harbor has fuel, supplies, and a short walk to a mausoleum, and old lime kilns. While not directly on route Stewart Island has two nice bays to anchor in both have floats. You can also walk to Turn Point Light House on the Island, well worth it.

It's crossing from Blaine the North end of Orcas that may be the trickiest only because of weather. If it's nice it's a piece of cake. Then come on down the West side of Orcas, West of Jones continuing down San Juan channel to Friday.
