  • WhooHooo new swim platforms inc platform-gctid811945

We had the boat blocked up at the boat yard. We started off by polishing out the hull from the rub rail to the water line. Then two coats of wax would follow. The hull really polished up nice for a 2004. Pretty much took care of the first day in the yard. We'll need to work the topside next.

The following day we installed our new swim platform on our 2004 285. The install went as planned with three of us to do the work. Start to finish I would say took about 6 hours with a few breaks for lunch and mechanic's lube (buds). The hardest part was reaching inside the old swim step to attach the washers and nuts. The last two on the port side required my brother in-law to wiggle in seeing as I couldn't get my torso to fit the space without removing some equipment.

Today we'll service the outdrive, more buffing and waxing and general cleaning. Sunday should be a tie up loose ends before we launch again on Monday all ready for the season :-)

sorry, no pictures of the install process. It was really pretty simple, I cut a couple of 2X4's to just above swim platform height and screwed a block on each to support the platform while it rested on the factory step. A quick grip on each secured the platform enough to drill the holes and stand on it when needed.
