Updates and Restoration to 1987 2555 Bayliner Ciera-gctid808283

I was fortunate enough to purchase this boat in the spring of 2016 for $2000CDN it was grubby, dirty and in need or some TLC. This boat sat on land for many years as the husband was sick and eventually passed away. I wanted to post some pictures of the cosmetic changes that we undertook to get this boat back on the water. We are a family of 4 with kids 10 and 5 and find that this boat offers the space we need while not breaking the budget. I have included a number of before and after pictures.

Here is a brief rundown of what we accomplished:

    [ul]

    [li]Recover bolsters [/li]

    [li]Recovered all cushions for dinette[/li]

    [li]Recovered all V-Berth upholstry [/li]

[li]Oiled and Polished all Teak [/li]

[li]New Vinyl for bench and captain chair [/li]

[li]Recover vinyl on radar arch [/li]

    [/ul]

The first 4 pictures show what it was like when I picked it up. We have replaced many many different components and really have enjoyed the project as well as the time on the water. Enjoy! Happy to answer any questions or help where I can.

Looks great. Are those the original seat skins or did you replace them?

I replaced them. The bench seat was completely rotten. We used the saw dust and scraps to build a template and recreate the bench. We then ordered new vinyl using original patterns from a local shop. She did an incredible job.

              Way Cool !!

I am getting ready to redo my seats. How is the bench seat attached?

I don't see any screws or glue

How did you remove the bench seat. I have a 1994 2655 Bayliner and want to reupholster the L bench seat. Any advise you can give me would be great.

                Tks

There are screws underneath in the stern bunk (cave) ceiling. There are also screws in the cushion themselves behind the bolster in the seams that attach it to the fiberglass. The seat is plywood and in my case was completely rotten and we had to rebuild the entire seat structure. I did purchase new skins that were made with original factory patterns in any color combination we wanted. PM if you have questions.
