Hi there, This is my first post we have a bayliner 249 deck boat 2006 model with a 5.0mpi engine on a alpha leg 2, problem seems we cant get any more than 30mph at 300 rpm, looking at bayliner tech date the boat should do 42mph and 5500 rpm max, loaded with 6 adults and 4 small kids it would only manage 20mph at 2800rpm, Looking at the throttle lingage it looks like the carb is getting opened full on full throttle any input welcome

Hello my first post also. What a great forum this place is. I have been lurking here and learning quite abit. As for WOT concern I would start by checking to see if your fuel filter is clogged and needing replacement. Good luck.

Welcome to BOC bigdug1 and AZ Boater! I concur with AZ Boater about checking your fuel filter first. It is the most common issue and the easiest to correct. The other thing I would look into is the pitch on your prop. It could be that your are overpitched. If this is the case, you will not be able to attain higher RPM's AND you are likely exerting excessive load on your engine.
