    Trailer Brake Kit-gctid711997

Just installed a brake kit on my 1994 Escort trailer with a 3500# axle. Using a Kodiak 10" disc kit that just slips over the hub, caliper brackets are a simple bolt up to axle flange. Used a tiedown actuator, this was a direct bolt up, same bolt holes as the old coupler, some have different bolt patterns. Note when purchasing a actuator you must specify drum or disc brakes there is a difference. Also purchased Kodiak single axle hose kit. Would recommend this kit configuration for someone looking to do this in the simplest way, no drilling all bolt up, one wire hookup to backup lights for bake release. You will need a fish tape to run hose inside frame rails, makes for a cleaner look but not a must.

Looks good... I like the braided plastic brake lines. They are great in saltwater as long as the fittings are brass and not plain steel. If you have not filled the brake lines and master cylinder yet, I would recommend silicon brake fluid. It does not attract water like DOT does and rusts out steel brake lines from inside out...

I would have gone with SureLube bearings as well.

I'm not sure if it is just the picture (IMG_0749.jpg) or not but it looks like you do not have much room between the axle and frame.

Are your springs getting flat and weak? If it is as close as it looks you might want to think about new springs.
