Alarm - Like the Ignition Starting Alarm - While Underway-gctid819987

We were out today in our BR175 and that alarm ... the same one that sounds when you turn the key to start the ignition ... started sounding. We were under 5 mph in the harbor waiting for a dock to open up. We couldn't find a problem, so I started toggling the switched on the dashboard. I don't know if it is a coincidence or not, but the alarm shut off after toggling the bilge pump switch on and off.

Does it have an alarm when it's activated? There was no water in the bilge but I suppose the switch could be going bad or something. Any other reasons for the alarm while underway with all systems appearing to be normal?

Nope, it looked fine. I didn't check the engine oil or other fluids. But gear oil bottle was correct.

Engine temps? Was the water intake clogged?

If your gauges are reading correct, oil pressure above 10 and temp below 200, and drive reservoir is full, then it's oil or temp switch. You can test by disconnecting one at a time and see if it shuts up. Just a note, when doing oil pressure switch you will not have prestart alarm.

Or the gear oil bottle sender is gunked up. Disconnect that sender first. See if that fixs the alarm.

Thanks for the "things to check". The alarm went away after a while and didn't return when I was flushing the motor at home. I will get set up to test this stuff next weekend (or if I get time this week!)
