    Capri repower

hello y'all. newbie to both your forum and power boats as well (been sailing for 35 years). just bought an 89 capri that needs an outboard. what is the smallest motor it can handle properly. my apologies if I'm in the wrong forum (old and not real smart)

1st of all.... WELCOME! Engine HP size depends on the size of your boat and your intended use. On a 16ft glass boat the bare min would be 50hp, 17ft thru 18 ft it would be 75hp.

On my 2000 Capri Cuddy 1802 I had a 90HP Mercury, which gave the boat nice performance with other people on board. Please post the particulars about your boat and a picture, then we can offer better advice.
