    2000 bayliner 2150, bow lights HOT-gctid809841

Hello everyone, since boating season is coming up here in seattle i want to address something that had me worried last year.

While camping in the lake overnight (lights on), I noticed that just a short time after i turned the lights on the metal on my bow light was super hot. Too hot to touch for very long. Is this normal? I replaced the bulb a couple years ago with the exact one I took out of it.

    Thanks!

If it's the bayonet style/car dome light (older cars ) then yes, might clean all contacts might help a little.Best would be to get LED style. Good luck Brad

Ye's it's the dome light type of bulb. I will look for an led replacement. Thanks!

It is called a festoon bulb. There are plenty of plug and play options for the LED replacement bulbs, but I found the Dr. LED brand to be the best for this particular application. www.doctorled.com Allegedly their bulbs are the only USCG certified 2nm LED's currently on the market.
