Well now jet.com is offering 15% off (max of $30) of your first 3 orders (and free shipping for orders over $35, which I assume is almost always available). So I bit the bullet at $245 delivered. Not as good as $220, but better than $275 + tax and shipping......

Both have been available for the last year or so I've been tracking jet.com. If you read the fine print on the 15% off, I believe you need to complete 3 orders within a certain timeframe. Otherwise you lose the 15% on the past orders - that's why I haven't ordered anything from them yet. Read the fine print.

I read it. I think you misunderstand. You are referring to this statement: ". Offer expires 8/1/2017 at 12:00 AM PST; if any of your first 3 orders are not placed by this date, they are not eligible for the discount." That means that in order to get the 15% on your order, the order must be placed before 8/1. So if I placed 2 orders on 7/31, they get the discount. If I place my third order on 8/2, it won't get the discount. For your interpretation to be correct, they would have to be crystal clear about the obligation and would have to seek clear authorization if they are going to charge your credit card for more $$.

On checkout, the only payment I authorized was the discounted payment. There is no authorization to charge an additional $30, and there is clearly no obligation to do so. If they tried to hit my card again on 8/2 for another $30 they would be breaking a whole fistful of laws and would be out of business with the legal fallout and the bad press.

OK, got it. Will install next Friday. Anybody got any good suggestions or pics of a good place to secure the harness and module under the cowl of a 90 or 115? The YouTube videos that I have found, including the official "Mercury" installation video, don't clearly show good places to secure it.....

            Thanks.

I installed mine yesterday. I just tie wrapped the module around the wiring harness. Took all of 5 minutes to install. I am having issues with the Bluetooth signal to my iPhone cutting out while underway. I emailed Bayliner about it and am waiting for a response. I may try re-locating the module and seeing if the issue goes away.

Yeah....i fear that issue, too. Murphy's law follows me EVERYWHERE, especially when it comes to high tech gadgets.....

Hmm, yes. Your interpretation certainly makes more sense. I tend to read fine print with a very cynical eye - assuming a lawyer has crafted it so ambiguous terms always work in the other party's favor.

Bluetooth operates at 2.4 GHz and suffers the same problems as other 2.4 GHz signals. Interference from 2.4 GHz WiFi (e.g. if your chartplotter is WiFi-enabled), interference from 2.4 GHz microwaves (ovens and certain radars), water is opaque to it (s'how microwave ovens work - water in the food absorbs the 2.4 GHz microwave energy), and of course absorbed by metal like all RF signals. Even partial absorption or interference can dramatically reduce the range.

The best (though not the cheapest) installation is to mount the bluetooth transmitter near where you plan to connect to it most often, then connect the transmitter to the engine via wires.

installed mine yesterday, with no issues. I left the harness and the module coiled and wire tied near the front of the motor (115), making sure it doesn't interfere with the flush port. No connectivity issues; the Bluetooth connection only seems to get lost if I close the app.

Since I have a tach, I don't leave the app open all the time so as not to use up my phone battery. But for fuel and engine hours management (and other gauge functions), this thing is great.

                      Holeshot feature is.....cute.

It would seem that dealers could be selling these to every one of their past element customers, or using them (perhaps in connection with a discount) as some sort of "service special" incentive. BUT, then the dealers would own the connectivity issues and app issues and may not be equipped for that.

I don't see the holeshot game in my app. How do you get to it?

when you are at the "home" screen showing speed, just tap the screen. You will get the "average speed" and "peak speed" info, with 4 buttons at the bottom; "reset," "add a moment," "Play," and "Leaderboard." The last two are undeer the word "holeshot." Press "play".....

This may be a dumb question, but how do I determine if my engine is smartcraft?
