    Rub Rail Repairs-gctid802829

    Hi All,

    I have a rub rail problem on a bow rider. Due to waves and boaters who do not follow the 100 ft no wake guidelines,

    my rub rail on the bow has been damaged. The channel bent and the the rubber has become loose.

    Does anyone have any suggestions on how to repair? I am looking to repair rather than replace.

    Please see attached pictures,

    Welcome to the forum, Yes it can be repaired, but you must find a section to replace the gunnel rail that is bent. To straighten and reinstall is difficult to make it look right, and what I see from the pictures, you will need to repair the cracks in the fiberglass first, by grinding out the cracks, filling them with glass depending of how deep, or fiberglass paste then gel coating to match.

      +1 on replacing the section that is bent. Not sure how particular you are but I would agree with fritzman that it would be difficult to make it look right. Worth a try I guess. +1 again on making sure the fiberglass is repaired.

      Best of luck to you and dam those guys that don't follow the no wake zone rules!

        That's damage from wakes?...do you have cruise ships coming through your mooring location?

          You can try by as already mentioned repairing the fiberglass first. The using a soft wood block and a mallet start working the rail into place. You may find it necessary to install more rivets as it goes into place. It probably won't look like new but you can make it a lot better. Other wise you will be replacing 6 to 10 feet of rail to be able to get the bend and have the rest lay against the gunnel like it should.
