Bought A 1988 Hard Top. Any Advice-gctid390308

Not new to boats or boating issues... I just bought a 1988 Trophy Hard Top 3.0 OMC. Just wondering if there are any typical issues I need to be looking out for. And any good suggestions for this vessel. Going to be a great project to bring her back to life.......

Name of Vessel is " KNOT A DIAMOND "

Thats what my gf called it when she asked how much I paid for it. I suposse she had other ideas for that amount of money.... LOL

Any Advise would be greatly appeciated.....

Any fuel consumption info you can give would great or ideas on making it more effeciant as well..............

What kind of shape is she in

Cosmetically she is pretty much in need of repair. The motor starts and seems to run fine. 806 original hours I was told. Hull is very sound. Will make a great fishing boat when I am done... Just dont know any thing about OMC I/O's , motors... what not. I bought this boat basically for the hard top and the 4 cylinder. Coming out of a 36' cruiser with twin 350's. I'm pretty much ready for some fuel economy. Basically just want any easier boat to handle and fish out of......

Main thing with an OMC Cobra is to just make sure that the shift cable is adjusted correctly so that it doesn't eat the gears.

Two bits of advice.

1) Get the OMC to Alpha conversion and put a Merc outdrive on.

2) Get a new GF.
