So I know I've already started 2 different posts since I joined this forum 3 days ago, but I figure what's the point in signing up if I'm not going to post so here goes. I was removing the old prop that I beat the crap out of last time out. It's definitely not a mercruiser prop, just some cheap knock off. When I removed it, the nut came off first, then the locking tab washer, then the prop, then 2 forward thrust hub's, that's it. I was looking in my owners manual and they show a flo-torque II drive hub and a drive sleeve adapter. I have gathered that the flo-torque II drive hub is only used with the factory style quiksilver propeller. I ordered a replacement solas amita aluminum prop. With it I ordered a new forward thrust hub, spacer and locking tab washer. When I install my new prop, will I only use 1 thrust washer, prop, spacer, locking tab washer and prop nut? Just trying to make sure I install this thing properly. Thanks a bunch boys.

if I read the instructions on their website correctly a rear washer may be required for the alpha 1 drive.
quote: When replacing a 2-piece propeller on a Mercury, Mariner, Mercruiser application, this prop requires Solas thrust washer METW
They also have a 4-blade Solas Rubex, $20 more. I wonder what the difference is.....
Edit: found it... It's a hub with exchangeable prop.

So the when i ordered the new prop, with it i ordered the new mtew thrust washer with it, it looks the same as the 2 thrust washers i pulled off the existing prop that was on the boat when i bought it. I think on the website when they say you need that thrust washer with the prop, thats only if you currently have the flo-torque style propeller by quiksilver. I guess my more generic question should be, how is you guy's props installed on your own boats (assuming you dont have the quiksilver props with the fl-torque hubs)?

Now that was exactly what i was looking for. Dont suppose you have a picture or part # for this continuity washer do you, seems to be the only piece i am now missing.

It seems to be a part that was intended to make positive electrical contact between the prop and the prop shaft, possibly to play some role in the electrolisys (sp?) protection.
But...you will not find one installed by the dealer, and none of my outdrives ever had one. You could ask your local dealer to try to come up with one, and I will search my books and see if there is a part number for you.
In short...it will not be missed, and should never stand between you and going boating!
Happy boating!

yes, and always a NEW tab washer!!!! Whenever you take off the prop the tab washer should go into the trash unless it's one with multiple tabs and you use a different tab for the next install (I wouldn't, they are a lot cheaper than a lost prop).

installed the new 4 blade prop today, looks awesome. I had to modify the trim anode to fit it, but that was pretty easy. If you want to see the how to process, here's a link.http://www.baylinerownersclub.org/fo...wer-pitch-prop

not sure that I see it right but your tab washer is suspect.... all the tabs are partially covered. You have to mount it in a way that you can bend several of them upwards into the slots of the nut.
You don't want to lose your new prop!!
If my old eyes are no longer good enough to see it right: please excuse and remember you will get older too and might see less...
You went down to a 17 pitch? I'm interested to know how that does as I had the 19 pitch recommended but if you do a lot of skiing and towing the 17 may be the better choice.

You're eyes must be failing you :-). That is a brand new tab washer. You are probably seeing the 3 tabs that have been left up. Only 3 of the 6 tabs line up with the grooves on the spacer. So yeah, i properly torqued it and the tab washer is fully functional. I'll post the results of the wot test this weekend. I'm going for a baseline test with a light load (me, wife, mom-in-law and 2 dogs). Shooting for 5,000 rpms, but we'll see what happens.
