    Oil Drain Hose-gctid387158

Ok, quick one...hope I ask this right

Is the oil drain hose (the one you use to change the oil through the drain plug hole) connected to a rotating fitting on the motor or is it a "solid fitting"?

Hope that makes sense...there was a discussion on this and I have no idea, lol.

    Thanks

Nope, it is a fitting to the pan with a nylon washer and does not swivel. - at least on my 2005

They are made both ways. If you are buying a new one make sure you get the 2 piece one where the fitting screws into the drain plug the the hose screws into the fitting.

Does someone have a pic of one installed or who sells them? Interested in finding more info on these. Thanks.

Mine rotates at the pan...I think that all of the Quicksilver branded ones do this.

Here is one that rotates at the pan: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/ima...sporting-goods

Here is one that is one piece, you have to rotate the entire assembly to install it. Fine if you have your engine out of the boat or lifted up, but a pain to try to install with the engine in place: http://marineenginedepot.com/PartIma...wivel_1166.jpg

Be careful if purchasing online. I ordered two that would not fit through a standard drain hole.

I made one our of the fittings and pushlock hose. It works nicely. I also ordered this: http://www.quickoildrainvalve.com/ which I think will be a more reliable system. I don't have to rely on the hose holding some of the oil. I think there is a potential for leaking with my current method, although it is nice.

Thanks again, ours is good, no issues. This was an inquiry for a buddy.
