    Sound proofing my engine bay.-gctid650636

    My boat has the 4.3l 190hp engine. Its loud when under way. I read here alot of boaters sound proofing thier engines bay with desecnt results. I decided to give it a shot. Here is the picture

        Nice work Scot. I put sound insulation on our 3.0L sterndirve (2007 175) and very happy with the result. Hope yours works just as well.

          i did this a couple of weeks ago and i am very happy with the sound reduction. makes a big difference

              Good job, has anyone tried the paint on sound proofing?

                    I just went to h--depot and bought their silver/plastic duct insulation rolls and glued it to the inside of the engine cowl Big difference

                      Scott, how did this end up working? Worth the effort? Did you do anything other than the top?

                        Just the top. It did reduce the noise sum but still loud. It was very simple to install so it is definetly worth it.

                          While trying to quite down the motor noise from my 2007 192 3.0, I noticed that the side storage areas were not capped or sealed from the motor bay, I stuffed in a life jacket in each side to reduce the noise by about 50%. I also added some self stick foam tape to seal p the holes behind the rear seats. Look around for other sources of the motor noise if the blanket doesn't do enough.

                            Im trying also to reduce noise in my 2452. Did this, and will glue the old ones to hatch doors. I used local soundproofing product, meluton
