Is this a new to you boat? Where did you hear that 35mph was attainable? I had a 16.5' bowrider last year with a1985 50hp evinrude with a 12x21 prop that would hit 35 mph BUT that was runnin solo with power trim on a completely smooth lake, and it took a bit of room to hit that mark.

With the boat level, stand off to the side a distance, look at the motor/shaft it should be at a very slight tilt up, not straight up and down. you have a pin/rod that goes in the holes between the lower brackets. it's going to be trial and error before you get where it gives all around performance. Don't expect much out of the 50, it will get you where you want to go, just not quickly. If your thinking of replacing....run the 50 until you find the right replacment.

What is the prop pitch? What speed do you get on plane? Do you have tilt/trim? How does the engine sound? Healthy?

Look at your weight distribution also.

Your boat is at the upper end of the 50hp Force's capabilities. The Force motor was never a performance motor to begin with, maybe a tune up ,carb cleaning and adjustment by a good marine mechanic is in order.
