What happened to my posts and signature

I have been a member here since 2009, several thousand posts. But now the system shows that I joined in 2018 and only have 30 posts and my signature is gone. What gives?

There was at least one "site upgrade" in the past year or two that lost a bunch of older information.

Some people's entries survived, but pictures posted did not.

Others had all or part of their history lost.

Welcome back and sorry about the discovery.

Pat, you are a young pup again! I don't thing anybody's pictures survived. It's been a long time. Take care, friend.

Don’t worry about the number of posts Pat. We all know who you are and the terrific contributions you’ve made to the BOC! Good to see you hanging out again!

VR5200 that is not true. We have not changed the software since 2017.

Pat I’ll look into this and figure it out.

            Pat, you have two logins

Papa Charlie which was imported from the liveaboard-boats.com site when I combined it with the BOC. This is the one with 31 posts and a 2018 join date.

Papa_Charlie which is your “normal” BOC login with a old start date and a couple/few thousand posts.

You just need to log out and log back in as Papa_Charlie with a underscore between the words.

Sorry if my statement was misleading or inaccurate.
In the past 12 months I have personally had posts disappear during some sort of website behind the scenes activity and I remember seeing other members ask why some old pictures went "poof"

I was just a lurker from spring 2017 until I joined a year ago.

              No problemo

If anybody has posts or photos disappear I need to know about it, and a PM or a topic like this is a great way to do that.
We went to Vbulletin software in November of 2017, and there have not been any changes since then, although we do get updates to the software by the manufacturer from time to time.

Our goal behind the scenes is to provide a stable platform, and if folks loose posts or photos we can help resolve those issues.

Folks might get a bit of confusion here because any BOC hosted embedded photos, and some threads did not transition when we made the software change in 2017. We cannot address those issues, but we can and will address any issues that have happened since then.

This forum is about you the member, and your posts, and your user experience really matter to us. Our members really Are the BOC, so if you see something let us know so we can fix it.

Ok, here we go, see if I am me again.

Alright! I am back again. Thanks Kevin, much appreciated. I didn't realize I had two logins. Probably a product of getting older. 😎

Seems we went through an upgrade or a crash, can't remember, maybe around 2010 or so. Lost a lot of our stickies and older posts.

I’m not sure about that time period. I “gave” the BOC to Strat during a career change for me and tried to just help out as a moderator from time to time after that.
Every one since then did a Great job, and made changes as they saw necessary at the time, based on information they had at their disposal at that time.

All I want moving forward is platform continuity so that we can grow out searchable history of posts and give folks a place to come talk about out common interests.

Since the old Juke forum software days, both Doug M and myself have acquired over 30,000 post counts each ( to-date total count).
When Juke was replaced, Doug and I lost about 4,500 post counts during the upgrade.
During each of the following the software upgrades, we both lost even more post counts.

While it's fun to see our post counts accumulate, post counts only represent one's forum participation.

We also lost the valuable BOC "Vault" threads.
If anything, I wish that some of those could be restored!

                        Yes they certainly were.
Capt Harv had a great thread on Batteries there, lots of Merc info and on-line service manuals there, I had an extensive Volvo Penta thread there, and of course the Xantrex shunt resistor thread. Lots of hours went into those.
