I started a Bayliner 285 Owners group on facebook. Great way to ask questions and share mods. I started the Macgregor / Tattoo 26 owners group when I had one of these boats. It has over 600 members sharing ideas, mods etc. I would love to get the Bayliner 285 group to that level. There is always a need to forums though.

Looks great. Do you know if the boat's stock system has an amp? I'm upgrading the stock AM/FM/CD player to a unit more like yours but need to figure out if I also need to add an amplifier for the boat's six speakers. Thanks!

Good Afternoon, Beautiful upgrades! Say, not sure where to post this question. I am looking at a couple of boats, one of which is a 2005, 285, with a 5.7. Do you think the 5.7 is a big enough motor for this model? Thank you in advance! ---Tony

Well mine only has a 2.8 Diesel 200hp which is slightly underpowered but economical. 5.7 petrol should be superb

Plenty of motor. Full fuel and water and 4 or 5 adults and you may drag a little longer getting out of the hole , but that's it.

05 2855 should be equipped with Mercruiser 5.7 MAG MPI 300HP with B3...she will be sure footed.

I've got a 2012 285 with a 6.2lt v8 320hp engine and it seems under powered. Maybe its due to all boats produced after 2011 are 600lbs heavier.

I have a 2855 ciera Sunbridge. Bought 2 8.1l 496 425hp. At the mechanics now installing one have the other for sale

Swim platform, forward canvas and curtains, Corinthian Aqua Mats on the floor of the cockpit, Blue tooth radio, new Magma Bar B Q, New dash panels from Some Sailor and a new wheel to match them, and a lot of polishing compound and boat wax. It was a good year in 2017.

How involved was it to change the steering wheel? I've got tilt steering on my 2003. Did you have to get rid of that? Do you have any pics from the side?

Took Five Minutes, you DO NOT need to remove the tilt steering to install the steering wheel. There is a bolt in the center of the wheel that holds it in place.
