The Admiral and I have been searching for the right boat to upgrade from our old Proline 21 WA Cuddy. We finally pulled the trigger yesterday on a 2004 289 EC. I already have a list of projects, and questions about kickers, pot pullers, downriggers, electronics, and general maintenance. We are looking forward to many nights on the hook in Puget Sound.

Congrats. We have an older model 2859 Classic and you will love the layout. There are several active 2859 owners on BOC and we can all help answer any questions.

Nice ride. I bought my 2859 this time last year. I upgraded a lot of stuff to make her a fishing machine. You'll love yours for sure.

I'm getting ready to make her a fishing/crabbing/shrimping machine. I gotta put some down riggers on her and I'm going to get a Discovery Bay Pot Puller. I just got off the phone with him. Any suggestion on where to carry the pots? Has anyone put a kicker on?

I must have missed this model. They are VERY sharp boats. Looks like you can a long season out of them. Best of luck with the new ride!

I put a new Merc 9.9 Pro Kicker on my swim step last year. I mounted a Panther T4 remote steer on it. It works fabulously for trolling. Ive also tried it out as a "get us home" motor in light winds just to see how it would push us. She wasn't fast by any means but I'll take 4 kts in an emergency. As far as where to carry pots, they live in the water. First thing off and last thing on during a trip.

Congrats on your new "Yacht". We have had our 2859 since 2000 and its still going strone. We plan to put another 2800 miles on it starting in May. The first thing we did with ours was to put a sump box down in the builge and drain the shower and air conditioner unit to that box; it has a float switch and pump that throw it overboard when full. For a list of things we did to ours, check out my sight and good luck with your new investment. Safe boating to you.

Congrats to the new boat, my kicker is a 15HP Mercury with XL shaft works well in swells and did fine in AK. trawling for Salmon.

Congratulations! We are very happy with our 289 and I'm sure you will be too. We also keep ours in Dagmars and they're great. A word of advice, put a McGard lock on your stern drive. Two guys stole 4 outdrives on my row in broad daylight but they weren't able to get mine because of that lock.

I'm glad they didn't get yours, but that isn't very comforting to know that they stole 4 outdrives. Did they catch them?

Congrats on the new yacht! We bought ours last August but have not been out yet. I have a long list of things going on it before that happens. I bought a 2016 Merc pro 15 kicker with the extra long leg. Mounted to the transom with a power lift garelick bracket. The kicker also has power tilt/trim. We just decided on a wireless python steering system for it! Barely sleep at night waiting to go boating!!!!!

The Admiral keeps asking me to call and find out if the mechanical survey is done yet. I don't think she slept at all last night.

The mechanical inspection came back good. Compression is 180 across the board, gimbal bearing and bellows are all good. Looks like I'll be picking her up next week.

They have the vehicle on camera leaving the lot but can't prove that they stole them. Hilton Harbor Marina in Bellingham had the same thing happen.
