On the prop you currently have there should be the size stamped in it should look something like 14x19. I believe the first number is the diameter of the prop and the second is the pitch. My best advice to you would be to buy the same size it has on it now, or talk to a prop shop they will be able to calculate the precise size prop for optimum performance.

What should a boat like this cost in great condition..I bought off second owner he had for 4 years he bought from original owner who bought new and garage kept it for the first 25 years of its life..boat is in great condition and motor fired first push very healthly....trailer great shape 2 new tires freshly packed bearings...newer trolling motors 3 new batteries 2 bilge pumps put in a second back up pump...Hopefully I didn't get ripped off but boat was just so nice...owner thought it was an 1985 17' its a 1987 18' I ran numbers so got lil advantage there...What should something like this cost...water ready with new stainless steel prop owner claims he paid $500 for it...
Thanks

That's a great boat, as you can see in my profile I'm a fan, sounds like you did well on the deal. One thing to watch, sometimes the wiring harness at the engine can vibrate loose and you lose ignition and trim. I don't recall my current prop size, the only other thing I would suggest is watch your RPMs at WOT, make sure you're somewhere close to, but under, the rated max of the engine.

Nice ride. Given you have the SS prop, I wouldn't worry too much about tearing it up as these are really tough. If you're thinking about protecting the lower unit, you're on the right path. An Aluminum cheapo will cost you more to rebuild with every log tag. The SS won't feel any pain. A 125 HP going 54 mph seems reasonable for your set-up. Does she have a tachometer?

Welcome aboard.

Getting a second prop is a great idea. Make sure you get replacement hardware as well.

Very nice looking rig you got. Congrats!!!!

ok boys I got it out on the water. had lil trouble due to bad gas. was water in it. also had some gauge problems only speedo was working RPM were not and fuel gauge was not...has the old glass fuses think might have some contact issues and also was a wire or two that needs replaced..gonna take care of that but top speed was about 34mph with that force 125 wide open not sure on rpms says 4500-5500 max on my motor....

gonna drain all fuel replace all the spark plugs again and got new thermoswitch on the way in the manuel they revised that switch and newer on suppose make run btr and more reliable...I have that part on the way new water pump blade on the way...gonna feed it fresh mixed gas this weekend with the new plugs gonna clean up carbs and replace that switch and water pump blade and see what happens..
