Plan on getiring back into boating at end of 2016. I'll retire & look for maybe a 3870 type with low engine hrs. I lke to work on boats just about as much or more as cruising I can tie up at dock in my front yard near the Detroit River connects to Lake Erie.
Will be wanting to do part of great loop. Always wanted to do something similar.
Take care everyone.

I just read about the Great Loop last night. I always knew about the ICW and have that on the bucket list, but didn't know the loop was possible through the Mississippi and the Great Lakes. Welcome and good luck!

Welcome aboard, nice cruising boat you have there. Where on the Detroit River are you located, if you don't mind my asking. I boat out of Bolles Harbor on Lake Erie but spend some time cruising the Detroit River too.

First.... I love the Bayliners.
With that said, I'm pretty sure my next boat will be Marinette (37, 39 or 41 model). These are well engineered, designed & manufactured all aluminum vessels constructed through 1991. They are generally a little lighter, don't rot, constructed with quality mechanics, are easy to work on and usually are competively priced. One downside is that most came with gas engines.
I mention this because there are quite a few in your area on western Lake Erie. You may want to look into them if you're not familiar with them.
Again, I like the Bayliners and Marinettes.

Have seen many Marinette when I did patrols in the Coast Guard Aux. I heard nothing but good about them.

The Bayliner 38XX Motoryachts are/were some of Bayliners best overall designs and well built boats that have and are standing the test of time. If you find a nice one you will have a great cruising boat. Good luck with your search.
