I've recently purchased a 1996 2858 and am now a proud part of the bayliner club. I've been polishing her up and bringing up to par what the p.o. has let go. Thanks to you guys here its been going very well. now for ?'s i have, how do i find out my gear ratio? it's a 7.4 bravo2 setup and i need to get her propped right. I've read how to do it but the prop on now i believe is spun so i cant really test it. Also apparently this is some kind of alien hub that doesn't swap like normal. Is this something i can do, or should i just buy a new prop and send the old one in to be refurbished? if i buy a new one i want to be damn sure i get the right one as best i can without being able to test her out. They're not cheap!

As far as the gear ratio... On a Mercruiser drive, I believe that one common place it will be stamped will be in the forward, lower portion of the -Mercruiser- decal on the port side of the outdrive?
