I was attempting to adjust my throttle cables on my Silverton and am wondering if there are 2 different points of adjustment. I ask this question, as I had a buddy stand on the bridge and move the throttle forward, and he was able to move it almost 2 inches before the linkage at the carb moved. Even if it (the cable) had stretched, it should still move the instant he moved the throttle - unless there was a secondary point of adjustment. The boat is powered by twin 8.1 Crusaders.

Any thoughts?

The cables attach to the arms under the controls levers. I would check the connections under there. There should not be that much slop unless a cable is dicsconnected or broken.

Do you have a single or dual helms? If dual, there are several ways they could link. It could be under the cabin helm or sometimes there are linkage blocks located at a common run point. You will need to chase out your cables to know which. Then watch all linkage points to see where the play is. Also look at where your cables attach to the shifters. There may be different connection points that increase the action of the movement. Two inches is a lot of play.

Single helm, bridge. Cables attach to the throttle lever at the bridge. The connection at the helm is a simple connection with an e-clip, nothing fancy. Can't figure out the slop without a secondary connection point.
