I picked up a Heart Interface Freedom 10 battery monitor at a swap meet yesterday but need information on the cable..phone jack style... that fits into the back of the unit plus wiring hook-up information.

Tried Xantrex's website but no luck with this old monitor so I would be very greatfull if someone could send me some information on this monitor.

Thanks,

Is this a LINK that uses the shunt resistor, or a Freedom 10 remote unit?

It's a standard RJ11 so I'm guessing its wired straight through, you could test with a cheap short RJ11 cable purchased from your local anything store.

I'm guessing it HAS to be a 4-wire cord which will be slightly harder to find (they're now used with multiple lines). You will have to peak in the RJ11 ends and see if there are 2 or 4 wires terminated in it. A cheap RJ11 terminator from the local hardware store here is like $10 bucks with connectors so you could make your own as well.

Without knowing exactly which model you have, I can't be 100% ceratin. I think you will find the RJ11 cable is the connection back to the inverter for its remote control. Unless you have an Heart/Xantrex inverter that is compatible, your only cable will be a bundle of light-gauge copper twisted pairs, coming from the batteries and the shunt.

My unit is the Freedom 10 Remote Monitor. The connector on the back of the unit has 4 contacts in the phone style connector.

Thanks for help.

This company is now Xantrex.
I called them a while back and the person that I spoke with was very willing to help me. You should get the same service.
