Need suggestions on where to go (internet) to purchase Alpha G2 bellows quickly. Marina says they are on back-order from Merc and will not be in until July 2nd. Specifically the exhaust bellows are back-ordered 2 weeks! :(

Thanks!!!!!

Have tried Doug Russell Marine, IShopMarine no luck...yet...

Specifically the exhaust bellows

Paul, I don't know if Merc exhaust bellows are like the OMC's exhaust bellows ?? you really don't need them other than to keep the noise down from the exhaust. :)... Edit: Try calling here. http://www.sterndrive.info/sterndriveparts/id2.html

Check your local West marine if you have one. They can check all stores nation wide and transfer in via fedex.

You can run with an exhaust bellows that is in poor shape - its only real job is to put the boat exhaust out through the prop. They also make an exhaust 'tube'. This attaches to the transom side only. When the drive is lowered, it will close the gap.

My B2 unit has this setup since I bought it and i have not had an issue yet.

I hope this will alleviate your fears.

I think they're slightly more important than just keeping the noise down... I'd be a bit careful if they are very torn that you don't stop quickly and "swamp" the bellows, if a large quantity of water was to head to the stern that would likely not be good :)

Your info is incorrect !! the exhaust bellows comes in 2 versions a tube and a bellows ... it will not sink a ship or cause damage if removed temporarily like a drive or shift bellows would ,, and if it were mine I would just get the tube version it attaches at only 1 side and is more trouble free

Good info to know. I did find the bellows on-line. Both the Merc and Siera Marine. (better prices than West Marine as well) Now I need to talk the Marina into letting me supply the parts so they can complete the project. The other bellows were available and I am having them replaced as well.

Question: With the tube style, as you trim the outdrive does the exhaust noise get substantially louder?

The tube fits inside the 'sleeve' and should not be an issue for normal trim operations due to the overlap of tube and sleeve.
It is also a VERY easy install - just a few minutes.

a little but not worth any concern and is Dependant on drive trim angle

Good news.

The Marina will allow me to supply the bellows. Ordered from marinepartsplus.com. They offer free UPS shipping on orders over $50.00. Good prices as well. $24 for Siera and $34 for OEM Merc.
