Hi all!
I am going to move my mbss from the engine bay to the outside deck of my 1995 2400SCR Maxum!
Does it have to be covered from water or can it be out in the open?
Does anyone with this or other boats have any ideas as to where to mount it?
Thanks
Don

Hi Don I have a 1997 2400 SCR and have not relocated by switch but if I did it would be on the port side near the transom door. I would install either a recessed box or enclosed box with a door.

I have a different model boat, I relocated it to the inside of the cabin. It's a good place for it and it's electrical connections are way less likely to see corrosion issues. If I had to do it over again I'd get it as close to the helm station as possible.

Thank you both for the info!
Mike: That is where I thought about putting it but there does not seam at first glance to enough room to mount it near transom door on the seat base! But still going to ck that area out more carefully! That would be my first choice location!

When I researched this, the popular Perko MBSSes are not waterproof, and need to be covered. The Blue Sea Systems MBSSes are waterproof, IP66 (will resist powerful water jets).

Don: I was thinking more on the port side where the step is. An enclosed recess panel should fit there and the area behind this is open to the engine compartment.

That is the other location I considering!
Trying save some $ by keeping it close as not to have to buy new cables!!!
