Have a Mercruiser 3.0L with an Alpha 1 Gen 2 drive on our lake boat. Seems like we are slowly losing lube oil and it appears to be from the lube oil monitor bottle itself.

I disassembled it, and put some teflon tape around the threaded nipple but it still seems to leak. Does anyone know if it's possible to remove the sensor coupling at the bottom of the monitor? I tried it, but it doesn't appear to be threaded and I didn't want to break it off. Was thinking I could get some sealant around it to stop the leak. I can order a new lube monitor bottle for about $45 + shipping but was hoping to pull together a temporary fix this weekend.

Old round style lube bottle? Yes the float switch does thread out, did it to mine hopping to replace the float switch but can't get the old parts anymore so I upgraded to the new reservoir. If you do manage to get it apart maybe a self made gasket and some permitex #1 or #2 would do the trick.

I've been noticing a faint two beeps the last two times out. Is that the low oil signal the system puts out? 2005 5.0 mpi. I checked the lube level a couple weeks ago and filled it up. Wondering if the level monitor has gone bad?
