Do you know if she's expecting a girl or a boy? I just got to be a grandpa for the first time about 5 months ago. Hope everything goes smoothly!

Well, it was a long day for everyone yesterday, but she finally arrived at 2:10 am. My granddaughters name is Maddison. Mom and baby are doing great. :)
It'll take a day or so to get back to normal here. I don't want to be around the glass dust and miss an opportunity to hold Madison.

Congratulations, Larry. She is gorgeous. As a 5 time grandpa, I can only reiterate what I once heard: Grandkids are a parents reward for not strangling their teenagers!!!! Enjoy her and spoil her madly :) :)

Thanks everyone. Yes, I'm sure she'll get spoiled over the years. But that's what the first grandchild should be treated to. :P
Mom and baby will be getting discharged and going home today sometime. So I'll be getting back into the project in a day or two.
I've kinda enjoyed the lack of itching fibers in my arms for the last few days. But, I am looking forward to getting back to normal again now that I've caught up with sleep.

Well, as is sometimes the case I have to postpone getting back in to the project. I was trimming the slot in the end of a perch for a bird cage and slipped with the new exacto blade. I had to put 10 stitches in my thumb across the tip & down the side to the first joint. So I'm going to let it heal a bit before I start glassing again. I wouldn't be able to get a glove over it right now anyway. So, I guess we all wait for the next progress update. :(

Hi guys. I was hoping to be able to get back to the boat soon so I pulled the stitches out today. Well, it's not closed all the way up yet so I had to tape it together and keep it closed. Didn't feel like putting stitches in it again. I keep thinking it would be ok around the glass work, but with my luck I'd spill acetone on my hand. Besides that, I don't think glass fiber dust would be to good for it's healing process. Soooo, It's still on hold for now. This sucks too, cause I'm "Itching" to get back into it!

Larry if not healing you may need a plastic surgeon to address it. My daughter had a similar issue and the surgeon had to cut away some dead tissue and stitch it again for it to heal.

I don't think it will come to that. It's just about healed except for one section about an 1/8" from the surface. I hit it a few times pretty hard and I think it just needs more time. After all, it was cut down to the bone in the middle of the cut. I'll give it more time and it'll be ok I'm sure.

Larry, take your grinder with some 24 grit disc and sand the hard roughened skin off the tip of your thumb, then slather it up good with some petroleum jelly and put a band aid on it.
Good to go! :silly:
A little acetone on it will just help kill the germs :P
Sorry man, just waiting to see some more progress. Your my motivation, remember ;)

Now why didn't I think of that. Heck, I could have sealed over it with a layer of glass. :woohoo:
I'm getting close to getting back at it in a day or so.

Come on, you don't need me to get you motivated. Get your butt to work. ;) I was hoping to follow your progress during my down time.
