We purchased our 1990 4588 MY in February, 2015 in Ladysmith, BC and brought it down to our home marina, Deception Pass. We have cruised the inside passage with this boat in 2015 and in 2016. Many cosmetic upgrades as well as mechanical repairs, new salon seating, new chairs, installed an inverter, rebuilt an engine, new carpeting, and on and on and on. Love the pilothouse and the overall comfort and space of this boat!

Since acquisition of our 1990 4588 in late 2015:
We have:
Serviced all and replaced all lubricants and filters to establish a start point.
Detailed and cleaned any and all mold stem to stern and engine room.
Re-done the salon seating by extending the cushions to increase the depth and re-upholstered & the side chairs. (Like the under seat storage and comfort but still did-like that forward corner at the galley counter.)
Same extension & re-upholstery of the Pilot House settee.
Re-upholstered the valances and assorted d├ęcor.
Replaced the galley sink and fixture.
Replaced the bath fixtures.
Replaced the salon table with beautiful solid hardwood folding table top.
Re-carpeted boat. (Next time it will be some type of laminate faux teak or vinyl or Plas-teak product.)
Repaired and rebuilt the floor engine access hatches.
Re-did the sliding windows with new track inserts.
Replaced the window coverings/blinds.
Replaced the holding tank which entailed the cut and disassembly of the guest head vanity.
Replaced all waste hosing in that effort.
Rebuilt the Vacu-flush heads and replaced a pump.
Removed the out dated central vac system.
Re-built the sink/shower bilge and pump.
Replaced a bilge aft bilge pump.
Replaced the genset with a new Norpro of greater output.
Replaced PSI shaft seals.
Replaced the heater in the Master suite.
Replaced both Master and Guest Suite mattresses.
Added a flat screen to the Master suite.
Re-wired and replaced the AC electrical panel and rotary switches as well as the glow light indicators.
Re-did the DC indicator panel wiring and indicator lights.
Replaced exterior shore power receptacles and power cords.
Rebuilt the Hynautics steering piston and the upper and lower helm.
Re-placed the fly bridge pilot seat and settees.
Re-built the davit system.
Tracked down all leaks and sealed (hope) including a fly bridge deck patch 30x24 where the table post was mounted.
Replaced entry lock/latch set with real key and interior lock actuator & rebuilt track and rollers on salon and pilot house doors.
Still need to re-do the bimini frame following & have the windshield venture coming tor replace the damage done in a recent windstorm.
As Val Kilmer said in the role of Doc Holiday in the move Tombstone, " I have yet to begun to defile myself".
Only a few of these issues were DIY projects. Much of what we did was to replace old but functional stuff and some was reasonable maintenance. Plan to re-finish the bright work this summer, replace batteries, and possibly replace the exhaust risers.
Fun and a leisure life style is hard work and expensive!

Good work to all! We are nearly finished a similar refit on ours! We bought ours in Sept. 2016, at Richmond, BC, and relocated the boat to Sidney area. It's been undergoing quite a refit since then and have really just started to use it on a couple of small shakedown cruises this spring. Just having new blinds and curtains installed to complete the galley/salon makeover. We are very impressed with the room and use of space. It's got a nice ride at sea as well.
Us 1990 4588 owners need to stick together!
