Ice water what did you mean by camp being back at Barnard harbour again this year? The fishing lodge or???

Also how do you go about getting king crab!?That I would love to try! The wife and I have only been on the ocean a few times with the first boat and are now hooked.......hence the new bigger boat for this year!

Sketch, The dock you where tied to last year belongs to a fishing lodge. Of what they told me at hardly bay last year they figure the lodge will be back in there this year. we get there early so the camp is not there yet. We just started catching king crab and use a flat trap but the alaska guys can probably tell you better. I think they are gone from there by the end of april. Flemming

Ice Walker and Fritzman

Great mods you guys have posted they definitely have given me some ideas! Fritz, if you decide to layup some more pulpits in the future and would sell, I'm seriously interested.

Ice Walker, thanks for the info! I just picked up a 20 hp Tohatsu long shaft, is that a remote troll mount you have installed? I'm looking at different kicker mounts and pretty much have decided with remote troll. Not sure if I wanna remove a 1/3 from the swim platform and do the transom mount our mount directly to the swim platform.

Thanks for the info!

I wonder if it's a new lodge going into barnard now as King pacific is now located in Milbanke sound. I don't see anywhere on their site mentioning going back to barnard. Looks like they had a really good year in Milbanke. It's sure nice to be able to tie up to the docks down there!.
We are hoping to get the 2859 down there but aren't sure about how much fuel to carry with it being a bit of a pig on fuel compared to our old boat. Hartley Bay will be a top up for fuel going there and back I'm thinking along with 5 or 6 jerry cans most likely.

Just to show you the latest project on my 2859: I put an aft canopy over the aft cockpit which allows us to enjoy a good cup of coffee in the fresh air even when its raining. In the summer time, this also provides a good deal of shade for those boiling hot Florida afternoons.

Sketch, Where would you carry 5 or 6 jerry cans? We carry a couple on the bow. I have added a cross rail on each side to have something to tie to. See pic. page 4 2859 owners. Flemming

BravoZulu, Full remote kicker mounted on the swim grid. It stays on there all the time but use a brace when transporting or the bounce will break the mount. Flemming

Not really sure yet where to carry the extra cans yet. Haven't been out on this boat yet! Carried 6 cans on my old 2459. Pain in the a $$. But we would head down to barnard harbour about 70miles one way out of kitimat. Just moved them around on deck till we used them up then put the empties up into a cargo rack I custom built on the roof. This boat has a ton more room so will figure something out soon.

This is the old boat!

Built a tackle cabinet to install between the Bulkhead and helm seat. One less thing out on the deck.

We just bought a 2004 289. It is getting the mechanical survey done tomorrow, so we should have it home early next week. I have several initial projects that I have questions on.
1. I will be installing a Wallas 30dt furnace. Where should I mount this? Under the dinette? Where should I put the diesel tank?
2. I will be installing a 2-3 burner propane cook top. Where is a good place for a propane locker. Is there a good quality "kit with solenoid, sniffer, etc ?
3. I'm mounting a Yam 9.9 high thrust to the swim deck. I will be using an EZ steer until I upgrade the electronics and install TR1. How close or far from the out drive should I place the kicker? Should I mount it to port and when I get the TR1 move it center?
4. I will be mounting a Discovery Bay Pot puller. Should this be permanently mounted or should I add a connector to make it removable? If I add a connector, which one would hold up to the amperage, and environment.

Firehawk, welcome to this section, I have a Wallas stove -heater combination, it is best to mount the tank in the engine bay, I would suggest the port side under and forward of the fish well, by the way I cut mine out sooo much more space to utilize. :cheer:

I think someone already cut out the port fish locker. There was a small fish locker on the starboard side.

I've been tryhing to diagnose a stinky issue we've been having.
Anytime anyone used the lav, we'd get a horrid stench coming from the starboard side.
I had thought it was a vent issue. Today I was down at the boat putting some treatment in the tank, and noticed an overly loud sound of water running.
A quick peek outside revealed that the water I thought I was pumping into the tank was actually going out one of the ports right outside the the lav.
Any thoughts as to why this is happening?

Sounds like you're pumping directly overboard, a big no-no. Look for a Y-valve, it's probably in the wrong position.

Do these stoves have a fuel pump on them? and not gravity flow?
I wouldn't dare remove my fish box sometimes I have 24 salmon, 16 halibut plus any rock fish we catch and the cooler would never hold them all.
I know that sounds like a lot of fish but with 4 people and 2 days fishing that's just our limit.
We have to get them while there here cause there soon gone for the year.
Fritz I can't hardly wait till I see your stove setup plus other mod's.

There is no fish locker on the port side. That's on the starboard side. Just forward of that on the starboard side is where I've seen them mounted. Then you can install a fill port just above it.

There may be a Y-Valve installed in the head discharge. But first, are you for sure talking about the head? (toilet) or do you mean the sink? (lavatory). There is also shower sump drain in there. The sink and shower go overboard (graywater) and the head (toilet) discharges toward and into the holding tank. You may have a Y-valve diverting that blackwater directly overboard. That's legal at sea and in most places in Canada. That is however, ILLEGAL anywhere in the Puget Sound.

No, its definitely black water - and yes, I'm well aware that its a no-no.
EDIT: traced the hose from the port back to the macerator and directly to the bottom of the black tank.
I did find that the tank was about an inch from being full. Also, yesterday when I left, the bowl was empty - today it was backfilled with waste water..

So I'm thinking this is just a by product of having a full tank? But I'm somewhat surprised how easy it was to push water through the macerator.
