Try going to rental store and get a little bigger pump that has garden hose fittings to use instead of using the bilge pump.If you are concerned about using bilge pump.
I have my shower drain pump set up so I can use it as a bilge pump also, just a couple of PVC tee's and it switches over from shower to bilge that way you can use both at same time to pump out the water. But we're only talking about 40 gallons or so and these pumps are designed for pumping steady for longer than 40 gallons.
But flushing should be your first option for a solution to tank cleaning.
Good luck

Good morning LazyCuser and Skeeter I flush my system when it sits for only a week and run it in to the sinks with the standard water supply pump, so if using chlorine the lines will be scrubbed at the same time, have a great Turkey day. :P :P

:) Happy New Years to all. Boating season is getting closer every day.. ;)
I wished all 2859er's had a chance to visit the fritzman and see his 2859 and all the extras he has done to it and he tells me he's not done yet
He has done so many things to make it a much better boat for storage, enjoying back deck, and the pods on the stern to give it more flotation and extra fuel capacity and it won't surprise me if I will have a hard time keeping up with him next summer cause he's talking about repowering it.
Now the problem is that it created more work for me to do some of the modifying he has done. :) But they'll be worth it.
Thanks Fritz for showing me the way.....

Putting a radar on my 2859, does any one know if there is sufficient room inside the corner windshield frame to run the cable? And is there an easy way to get it in there?

Thanks.

PS. I have done many unique mods and will post them all when I am done. Hopefully soon.

Hi Alan
We will be looking forward to your modifications
I have my radar ant wire coming through a water tight fitting in the overhead at the corner of the strb window then wire runs down the vertical corner of the fwd window. It works very good there as it's out of the way.

Happy New Year to all . And a big thank you to Skeeter for the plug, Yes I am working on the Boat over the Holidays only time I can get in to the shop we have snow drifting and its about 20 right now, chasing leeks that we discovered this summer pulled one side window up to now, but the felt insert's where not the same so waiting on parts. On to the next project I think I have leaks from the gunnel molding mostly riveted on and potential for leakages Bayliner makes it a joy to get to them. well back to it I have a screw with a striped head to get out. Happy New Year.

 Has anyone installed a Y valve in the overboard discharge sewer system on a 2959 Bayliner?
I have been lucky, when inspected, no one wants to crawl into the foot of bunk to check it with there float suits and guns on.
Thanks

Typically a Y valve is used to divert the toilet outflow into a holding tank or route it overboard. Your system, if it is like mine has no need of a Y valve as all of the toilet discharge goes directly into the holding tank. There is no overboard sewage option from the toilet in a 2859. If you are going to discharge overboard, you would need to pump out of the holding tank via a macerator. Some rules require a macerator be wired with a double switch to avoid accidental discharges.

And you are correct no one is going to remove the panel at the foot of the cave bunk to see how your system is plumbed. I wouldn't worry about it.

2859 Owners have been a bit silent, so what projects or trips this week?
My project for now is marking the forward alignment spot for the new engine, let me explain had to restructure the main engine mounts there lower and now aluminum channel through bolted and mounting bolts from the top down and nuts wedged in the bottom, so there is a small deflection even when on the splines so to center things a long pipe pointing forward to mark the spot and a target board to mark things, so tomorrow a bit more, sitting at my desk all day catching up from my trip to Seattle Graduation G/ P had to go, outside in Seattle? It went well but it never rains there right.

Fritz. They are thin sandieply plywood panels. Finished them with a gloss paint that is color matched to the shiny off white formica on the interior doors. The wood strips match my otber interior wood.

Not my boat, but noticed it walking the dock last week. It only runs the kicker, but is pretty classy:

Peninsular 400TAS-310? I was considering that engine for my 2859.

I will be very interested in the improvement in fuel economy and performance you will get. Please post the results after your sea trials.

Fritz, I am located in the upper peninsula of Michigan and boat in the waters of Green Bay and Lake Michigan.

I have done a bit of research on diesel engines for the 2859 and the Peninsular seems to be the best fit and value for the boat. I've spent about an hour on the phone with these guys discussing a diesel engine swap(there is more than you would think), but haven't pulled the trigger, the old 454 refuses to die.

LandShark, thanks for the information, yes it is a project and I will post the ins and out of the project on completion, I traveled through that area after picking my engine up in Grandville and went over the Mackinaw Bridge loved the area, better traveling than going through Chicago that is the pits.
