Hey new 2359 owner(almost). I am in the process of purchasing a 2006 2359 (5.0 mpi, bravo 3)from the Olympic boat center bankruptcy sale. Should have it next week. It will be used primarily for transport to a vacation place in the san Juan islands. What speeds do you see at cruise and full throttle ?? Do you know the approx GPM at these speeds ?? What size, pitch props are you using ??
Have you had any problems with your boat or heard of any known problems with these boats ?? Thanks in advance !!! Ima

Congratulations on your new boat! We just got ours last month. I don't have info on our props without looking up the specs, but they're what came with the boat.

We've only put 12 hours on her so far, mostly crabbing, so no info on GPH, either. I CAN tell you she cruises nicely at 28mph and we had her up to 48mph (still not wide-open) for about 30 seconds. I can't wait until the break-in period is over. :D

Two problems I know of is that the 2359 lists to starboard and the addition of a 9.9hp kicker will balance it out, and the fishwells fill with water. Some owners have applied a new seal around the hatch. Others just live with it.

Wow 48MPH !!??!! That is amazing !!! My 2359 does not have a kicker but the bracket is there, guess I will use the tabs to level her. Any info on how to seal the fishwells ?? I am not a fisherman and may use the wells for stowage. My boat will mainly be our water taxi to and from the cabin.
Thanks for the reply !!!

If you have a trophy, the only thing you will be storing in the fishwells, is water.

:prod

Good luck on the new boat...

Yeah, 48 mph according to the GPS, with 2 people and a full tank of gas on flat water. It won't do that well out in the river.

We store our fenders and extra lines in the fishwells. The water is a nuisance, but most people have learned to live with it.

This topic has some info about those fishwells:

Thanks Donna. We took delivery of our new 2359 from Ted on lake Union today and spent some time on the lake(it has been many years). Alot of no wake zones. We were able to open it up a little and saw 47 mph it has the mercruiser engine management display and I think she drank almost 20 gph wide open, 10 gph @ 30 mph not to bad !! Needless to say I was very impressed with the top speed and cruising fuel economy !!
i am going to winterize it and put it away for the winter....I know it's a hardtop but we will get plenty of use this spring/summer going to our place in the San Juans.

Was it sunny up there yesterday? The cabin warms up nicely in the sunshine.

I ordered two 20" pillows for the dinette. I got them in this fabric:
http://www.sunbrellacentral.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=735704
From this company: http://www.cozydays.com/patio_furniture_cushions/outdoor-pillows-square/

I'll also use them when I'm stretched out across the motorbox and jump seats, working on my tan. :-)

It was a beautiful day for a cruise !! We did not bring sunglasses and it was hard to see at times from the glare with the white deck. The cabin warmed up nicely (didn't need to use the heat). Those pillows look nice !! Sunbrella would be very durable. Wonder if they have a color to match our forrest green upholstry in the cabin ?? I don't think we would want to run very far at wide open throttle...the 20 GPH would surely drink lots of fuel. 10 gph @ cruise is acceptable. Thanks for the replys...do you do anything to winterize all of the water pump systems from freezing...raw water, fish wells, macerator, bait well, toilet, sink ??? Maybe a little rv anti-freeze ?? If the fish wells filled and froze that might be a problem ?? Anybody ever used the bait well for a live crab storage, not sure it would work, might be hard to get those suckers out of the well when they are alive ?? Just some thoughts --Ima

Ours is a Mercury 9.9 Pro Kicker. I don't know the length of the shaft offhand, but when we ordered it, it was an "Extra-Long".

Anyone know who makes this seat or where I can get one just like it ?? I have seat envy......I saw this in a ad for a used 2359. It's a dealer sale and they have no info on the seat.

I don't recognize it, but it looks comfy! You might try asking in the general boating section.

It wouldn't work for us, as the armrest is where we have the kicker remote mounted.

Does anyone have any good storage tips for the 2359 ?? First impression is there is not an abundance of storage. As I have stated ours will be used as a water taxi to our place in the SanJuans. I am open to suggestions on storage tips and tricks, safety gear, props, tools, fenders, ropes etc. We havn't really started packing our gear, but that time of year is soon approaching. we are not really fisherman, it would be nice to store stuff in the fish lockers but they fill up with water so ??
All suggestions are appreciated !!

I'm sure you've already found the storage areas under the V-berth and the aft dinette seat. I'm going to get a Rubbermaid tote and screw it onto the platform under the dinette seat to use for storage. We put fenders and lines in the fish boxes. Since we don't use live bait, the bait well is used for a cooler.

We also got a gear hammock like this and hung it from the rod holders in the cuddy. We keep lightweight items in it like life jackets, pillows, sun shower, beach towels etc.

I'd love to hear anyone else's storage suggestions.
