VEGA* wrote: Hey guys I am the new owner of a 2000 Ciera 2455 sunbridge 5.7.

I always wanted a boat exactly like this where I can entertain 4 or 6 people and stay overnight with at least four. Having two tables and a place to cook, a lot of storage is great. It's good on gas and it gets up to plane very quickly. The steering is a bit loose and there is a lot of free board but this boat is perfect for me and my girlfriend. Got a great deal on it for ten thousand and absolutely love it!

Good deal my friend. I been looking for the one like it and the price like you but :(

My 2450 Sunbridge has been sitting since February. I'm needing to give it some TLC and such.

What I'm planning to do is have a shop go through it and give it whatever they do for an annual check-up type service. Is that enough? What could I do myself, an inexperienced boater? What specific things do I need to worry about most?

The bad news is your inexperience. The good news is that you recognize that. Welcome to the BOC, you've come to the right place! :cheer:

If I was in your shoes I would first get a good boat mechanic to give the complete boat an inspection and provide me with an assessment on what it needs, a prioritized list, and approximate itemized costs.

Looking at picking up an 86, 2450 Command 5.0 with about 150 original hours on it. I would appreciate any info on what I should inspect for, given its lack of use over the last 30 years. I've had a number of boats and alway look for signs of wear and abuse, this time its the opposite. Also, any ideas on improvement mod's would be appreciated as well.

2000 model year 2455 with LX interior, but the 5.0 engine. Got a bargain on a low hour boat in an estate sale. Mostly for playing around on the Nature Coast of Florida (North of Weeki Wachee).
Needs some cosmetics after sitting in the Florida sun for a "while"...
