Anyone know what the approximate price is to have a marina change a gimbal bearing and align it?

1990 2556 7.4L Merc Bravo 2

My father purchased new at the Seattle Boat show in 1990. New engine around 06, can't remember the exact date - hardly any hours on it, hasn't been used much in the last few years. I guess you could say I just inherited it, or at least the maintenance duties and costs. I've been fishing on this boat since I was 8 and I have to say it is an ideal fishing platform. Get to the grounds quick, plenty of deck space, command bridge for the sunny days and a comfortable cabin for when you need to get out of the Southeast Alaska weather. Currently remodeling the interior.

Hi all,
We are in Nanaimo and have a 1991 2556 (7.4 litre, Bravo 2 outdrive) and are based out of the Nanaimo Yacht Club and cruise mostly in the Gulf Islands to Desolation Sound. Great boat for fishing and cruising. I have owned a 28 command bridge and a 26 sunbridge before this and this is my favourite. We have added new seats on the command bridge and getting new canvas this year. Some pictures are on my profile.

Hello all, my wife Dawn and I are the owners of a 2556 we bought in 2000? Cant remember exactly. We purchased from a freind in Northern Virginia and have just recently FINALLY got her in the water!!Long story short, we moved to Southern Mississippi just in time for that B#^@! Katrina to pretty much wipe us out. We lost everything except the boat and our household goods that were in storage. (Luckily we were living with her mother until we found our house, she lost hers and lived with us in a rental untill it came to settlement). It is a very low hour boat and has been alot of fun fixing her up. I've been on this site a little while and would like to thank everyone who has helped us thus far in our restoration. We stayed out on it July 4th for our first overnight and it was incredible watching the fireworks along the beach! If you are ever in the Gulf give us a shout! Lots of love............. Brett and Dawn Harrison.

Hello,

I just bought a 1987 2560 Trophy/2556 Ciera model in August of this year. It's running a King Cobra outdrive and a 300HP Chevy. The P/O took very good care of it and I intend to do the same. This is the family's fifth boat (largest yet) and were very excited to start our camping adventures in the San Juans ( WA) here this Spring and Summer. I've learned a lot from this site and look forward to gaining more knowledge.

Regards,
Mike

It's a 2560 but I haven't seen much activity here mentioning this model. Didn't know where else to post it. I just bought it and it will be my project for the next year or so. Can't start on it for a few weeks, but will have many questions when I do. Carry on...

New owners of a '87 2556 OMC Cobra 5.7 with 300 total hrs so far on her, she will be living large on Lake St Clair under the name of Wild Eagle.

She'll be going through a complete top to bottom refit but I'm doing all the under water line things first thing with a rub out and wax scheduled this weekend. New Bellows and rubbers, OMC outdrive off and gone through by Ronnie at First Mate in Harrison Twp, Mi, great deal I might add here and he's a terrific mechanic. I'll fix a couple gel coat cracks, install new sonar transducer and bottom paint before I splash her in a couple weeks. I'll be interested in some canvas work after that.

Be easy on me I rescued her from an automotive mechanic who didn't have a clue there was a difference. When I bought her I checked the gimbal and ran the engine. Then I proceeded to put my hand right through the bellows and felt the shaft... I rescued her right in time :-)

When I retired from the US Marine Corps in 97 I worked briefly for Metro Boat Sales- Bayliner Dealer here in Harrison Twp (Wally World) then I went to McMachan Marine (Sea Ray Dealer) from 1998 to 2002 when the bottom feel out of the boating industry around her in Detroit Area. I was their instrument installer and delivery captain. I've always wanted a 2556 and now is my chance.
