Check out the new PasDeck we installed for the extension project(will post a few more seperate topics).
The goal was have nicer looking option over non -skid, softer on the feet, something that does not chip or dent from scuba gear and most important to tie the cockpit and extension together so areas flow well together.

I really love the look and the job is superb.
The only problem we had when we used it was the hot surface on bare feet in the full sun.

Hey Mark,

Did you install this material? If so, did you use the strips or have custom inlays made? Oh... and how did you adhere the material to the deck?

Thanks,
~BJ

Bj I know what you are thinking and I have been thinking about something like this for mine too had considered the seadeck.
If you go for it we should chat and work on templates etc.

That would be awesome, Simeon...

I REALLY want to do something like this and would love to work with you on a project like this, buddy. I found some material that is way cheaper and seems to be the same chemical composition and similar thickness. I don't know the exact difference, yet, but was plannig on buying some samples and comparing them. The material iis considerably less in price (about a 1/3 the cost) than the other various options and instead of being sold in strips, it's sold in (approximately) 4'x8' sheets for a couple hundred bucks...

I'll let you know what I figure out...

stay tuned...

Becareful with other brands. a few boats on my dock have other types and they are fading and cracking, the boats I have seen that have plasdeck seem to look new even through years old

www.plasdeck.com/

We had templates made and used one of there installers.

That's good information,,, curious question. If it's not too personal, what did it cost to have the templates made and one of thier installers do the work?

Thanks...

Mark,
did you compare Plasdeck to Seadek? If so, why did you prefer the Plasdeck product??

Thank you,

This style of plastic teak does really look great when new and is relatively easy to maintain however be aware it is unbearable to walk or sit on in the sun. I would compare it to black asphalt. Speak to a few that have this type of product for a few years and you will see this is their main complaint. Personally I went with Sea Deck. It is stick on, soft on the feet, very easy to wash down/maintain. Any section can be simply peeled off and replaced with ease if there is damage and the best thing is it does not get hot. I highly recommend you look into it before making your final decision.

I have the grey color on the Carver and my previous Avanti has the Sea Dek in teak color. I can assure you they do not get hot, fairly warm at best.

FWIW - I have had both but the seadeck was a lighter color and the plasdek was like teak.

IMO - there is no comparison that the plasdek is a much more rugged and superior product in just about all ways except it gets pretty hot - its also more expensive.
The seadeck was easier to use, much cooler and cheaper but was not near the finish and ruggedness.

Well I just had a quote for Seadek on the 5788.
wow, some pricey suff, and it think the Pasdeck is even pricier..
as a reference for folks
Cockpit- $3k
Swiimstep- $2k
steps to bridge- $0.6k
Entire flybridge- $6k

templates $1k
Installation $$2.6k

wowsers $15.3k for the whole thing. I was more curious on the bridge costs. but now seeing cockpit and swimstep with installation likely being around $6.5k with installation. seems hella pricey to me.

just sharing as a reference for folks. do others think this seems reasonable? everything on a boat is expensive we all know that. just can't really bring myself to pay that much for a bit of squidgy outdoor flooring.

$40-$50 sqft (including template, solid factor built pieces, shipping, and install) is range down in So Calif for PlasDeck. Final result on our boat looks so much nicer then the ones in my marina that did the strips and self installed (not sure they really save much on the $$ either.

Prices obviously vary greatly for Sea Deck. I had all three levels done including all stairs, salon entrance and swim platform and even exterior of the wing doors and a few nooks and crannies. Also had a custom Carver emblem done at the footrest of the pilots chair. They came, measured and installed for $5,500 CDN. The patterns are now in their system so if any damage were to occur I can easily order and replace a panel myself. 2 Full years of use and I must say upkeep is very easy, very non slip and really comfortable on the feet. Here is an album with most of my completed boat project where there are a few pictures of the Sea Deck. Click on the link in my signature.

Not necessarily a rip off in your area. This is the biggest issue with boating in general. Custom work goes for what people in the area are willing to pay in that area. Just like canvas, polishing, dock fees and almost any other boat related item.

I had my boat polished and waxed in June of 2016 where it was put in the water about 100+ miles from my home port. The area is saturated with boats and vendors, a real boaters paradise in terms of getting anything done right now with a snap of your fingers. They charged me $3,000.

In comparison, I had my boat polished and waxed close to my home port last spring however there are really no services in the area. The team drove down (1hr) and did as good of a job as the 3 grand guys but charged me $1000. Obviously I will be booking these same guys next year.

I should ask my dock neighbour how much they charged him to do his 2008 52' Sea Ray sedan bridge which was done about 2 months ago. He liked my Sea Deck so much he went this route also however in a natural teak color. Unfortunately he has hauled for the season so I won't know until next spring.
